The Evening Peal

For three hundred years the Vale has rung its bells at dusk. The Evening Peal holds the Stillness asleep beneath the Blackmere, where silence pools in the lakebed like ink.

Then the Great Bell cracked. Guildmother Hesper went down to recast it and did not come back, and the Stillness came up through the crack. Twenty nights remain before the dark moon, when the Stillness will be strong enough to wrap the whole Vale in felt.

You are the new Ringer. Hang your bells. Tune them. Keep the Vale singing.
