svg-forest · a folded country
A country folded from one unbound book.
When the Tide came for Halden, the Scrivener did the only thing a scrivener could. She folded the whole land into a quire, one stack of sheets, and pressed it shut. Rivers became ridges. Forests became stacked green paper. The last cranes were folded from spare margins to keep watch over the creases.
The book has been closed for a thousand years. At dusk the creases warm and soften, and a walker can open the country a few steps at a time. You are a Folio: a page-walker with a bone folder and a lantern.
Light the shrines along the margins to restore what the Tide tried to erase. There is no last page. The walk is the sentence.
Walk with W A S D or the arrows. Turn with ← → or Q E. Drag the mouse to look.
Left stick walks. Right stick turns. Both thumbs at once.
